Hugh Brown, President and CEO
Hugh Brown joined AKA in 1992, and since then, he's built our 60,000 square foot state of the art facility, then took on his current position in 1996. A veteran of the non-profit direct mail fundraising world, Hugh has focused AKA's efforts on the helping many organizations grow and expand their fundraising efforts. Professionally, Hugh is a sought-after speaker for fundraising matters, where he shares his years of experience of how to create and produce effective appeals and other direct mail communications.
Active in his church and community, Hugh also serves as founder and Chairman of the Board of Saint Michael the Archangel High School in Fredericksburg, VA. He is also the founder of the Catholic Business Network of Central Virginia, and is responsible for more than $1,500,000 raised and given to local Catholic schools since 2004.
He leads AKA's charitable works initiative, helping AKA's employees support scores of athletic teams in the greater Fredericksburg area, as well as many Catholic parishes, Catholic and Christian schools and churches, Bethany Christian Services, Mary’s Shelter, and the Paul Stefan Home, all dedicated to the sanctity of human life. In addition to being dedicated to community service locally, nationally AKA is active behind-the-scenes helping many organizations doing good works.
Chief Operating Officer
Ken oversees our sales & project manager teams, estimating, billing, IT, vendor relations teams, and project schedules. He's also responsible for managing our physical facility, and is experienced in sales, postal matters, postal regulations and postage analysis. Fun fact: Ken joined AKA as its first employee in 1985!

Rita started her direct mail career at agency level helping non-profits. She's come full circle from agency work to client service as a project manager, then on to sales, now overseeing our development efforts. A valuable asset to our clients, Rita's natural ability to work with clients, bring projects in at or below budget, and create techniques to help clients garner better response and larger donations. Mary Ann Pinney
Manager, Client Services/Purchasing/Estimating
Mary Ann began her career typing camera-ready copy. She's worked her way up through our printing and mailing shop, and now serves as manager of client services, purchasing, and estimating. She's worked from all sides of the industry: client, agency and vendor, giving Mary Ann an understanding of how to meet everyone's project needs. She's especially great at helping our clients use their print dollars wisely, meeting deadlines, and staying up-to-date on postal issues.
With a career beginning in Direct Mail Marketing as an assistant project manager, Susan quickly learned the direct mail business from the ground up, including the art of multitasking and provide valuable customer service. In 2005, she came to AKA and added printing to her direct mail skills. Currently, Susan handles a wide range of clients, working closely with AKA's sales and creative teams to conjure new ideas and concepts, increasing returns for our clients.
